Bears, Bears, Bears by Bob Barner

Daughters age when read: 3 years old

I was fortunate enough to go on a tour of the Chronicle Books office in San Francisco last week and picked this book up while I was there.  I am so glad I did because my daughter loved it.  In her words “This book is so cool!”.  The first thing we looked at was the dust jacket which opens up into a map of the world. On the two edges are descriptions of different types of bears and where they live.  She was excited to see the “snow bears’ (polar bears) and the sloth bears because she loves the sloths in Diego.  So we were having a blast and we had not even started the book yet.

Once we were done pouring over the poster we started reading about all the different things these different types of bears did. There were some familiar ones like the panda bears and some new bears to us like the Sun bears.  She especially enjoyed reading the different facts about the baby bears.  She found it fun comparing how big the baby cubs are at birth compared to how big daddy is.

If you are looking for a fun, educational and interactive book for your little one this is one to check out.

How cool that the book features bears you can see (have seen) at your zoo! It’s so much fun to make “real life” connections. I think it makes the books seem so much more real than just pictures on a page. Fantastic review! SO glad you picked up a copy, and completely jealous at the same time. ;o)

    Pam-you should check it out!
Danielle-I’m glad I bought it. I was debating. They did good marketing with that cover too because they put pictures of other books inthe series and now my daughter wants them all.
